Photo Special on the N89FA by Graham Shevlin

Mr. Graham Shevlin allowed me to post some of the great photo's he had made of N89FA on my site. He also sent me the following background information early December 2003: "The plane is going to be based at Grayson County, which is just up the road from Sherman/Denison, near the border with Oklahoma. The plane was undergoing flight-testing last Sunday when I took some of the pictures. They were going to conduct pilot checkouts last Monday. They were about to sign a contract to haul odd-sized freight 2-3 times a week from Dallas/Fort Worth to Portland Oregon. The mechanics working on the plane told me that 2 of the 4 engines are newly overhauled, and the other 2 are mid-time. They have 2 spare engines. There is an engine shop here in Dallas that still overhauls the R2000 Twin Wasp engine series."

Photo Special on the N89FA by Mark Meltzer

Mr. Mark Meltzer sent me these unique photo's in November 2005. N89FA was being used as a sky diving platform for the World Free Fall Convention. Normally this plane is used to haul cargo, but on this occasion it carried 80 sky divers! Please enjoy the pictures which include cockpit shots. Unique material!

Mr. Donald van Zonneveld is another classic airliner fan who visited N89FA at the airport of Gainesville, Texas (October 2007). "Finally I met my first (airworthy) Carvair! "Fat Annie" N89FA and surprisingly other radial desires. Only possible with the kind co-operation of the airport's kind authorities for which i thank them deeply. "Hey Paul, this is Steve O Brien in Texas with pictures of N89FA Carvair at Gainesville Airport Tx taken last Friday April 17th, 2010. Had a long day with a morning TV appearance with the U2 tribute band I'm in then shot out to Gainesville. Was accomodated greatly by the staff there who took me out to her and let me wander around and I took some other stuff there too. I wish all airports were as accomodating!!!! They told me that she was engine run for a potential buyer last month so maybe she'll be flying out of there,hopefully to someone who'll keep her flying."

"Hi, Paul. I had an opportunity to visit the Gainesville, TX, municipal airport (GLE) yesterday (9 May 2012) and snapped these photos of N89FA, which you are welcome to post on your website. According to airport manager David Vinton (whom I need to acknowledge for permission to photograph the aircraft plus an escort to end of Runway 21), she is due to leave for South Africa in "a few months."
